Your shop is gorgeous, and I have no critique on your product line. I would suggest cleaning up the photos a bit. The layout of each pic is lovely, but the images are a bit blurry. This can usually be fixed by using the right macro settings and a good lightbox (I have a link to a tutorial on my blog for making a good lightbox from stuff around the house)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite item in your shop is the package of 3 goats milk soaps because a) I'm obsessed with the way goats milk makes my skin feel and b) that obsession can become expensive, so I like to buy my soaps in bulk.
ReplyDeleteI really love your shop, but there is one thing I feel you could do differently. Since soap is something that people often like to smell or see before buying, you are at a disadvantage because all customers have to go on are pictures. And I feel that some of your photos could be much brighter. I have the same problem, because I live in an apartment that only gets light in one window. But I think that some really bright, natural sunlight could work wonders for your shop.

My favorite item from your fantastic Etsy Shop is the Solid Lotion Bar in the Dreamcicle Scent. I chose this item because I love the idea of being about to carry it around with me without "lotion" leaking in my purse, I love all the natural hydrating ingredients in it to really concentrate on my dry skin, and I also think it will be just as easy for my young children to use on their skin and I think they would enjoy the unique way to apply it rather than getting their hands "murky" as my son would say from the lotion! I also like that it contains beeswax to give more lasting power! The Milton Bees scent sounds terrific too!

I love your shop just the way it is, but if you want suggestions on what to change, perhaps add some delicious exfoliating products, I love it when there are natural ways to exfoliate my skin with sugar! And you offer so many wonderful scents already, just make them available in more types of products! Perhaps every 6 months add a new product type, like shower gel, spray scents, shampoo, etc. I always say if you are successful at one thing, which you already are, then keep taking it to the next level, kick things up a notch, challenge yourself if you have the time and the desire. But, I really like your shop just as it is, this is only food for thought for the future!

I think it'd be nice to see a few more scents in your line of soaps, maybe a citrus or fruity scent? Love what you have though!

I tried to enter the other day and something went wrong :) Better late than never. I love love love the solid lotion! I got a couple during Christmas and everyone at my work loved mine SO much I had to order more! One of my coworkers got the Lilac and it smells Soooo good!

ReplyDeleteI would not use the same picture for items that are sold differently. Like 3 bars of soap and CORA PAIGE BENEFIT soaps have the same picture. Even though they are the same item, they are sold differently and should have a different picture so that it looks like there are more items in your shop.

I'd really like to see some liquids added to your shop... Body wash, hand soap, bubble bath, lotions. I'm a sucker for yummy scents, and handmade goodies, and I like to be able to mix things up by swapping out whatever's in the bathroom with something from my stash now and again. Liquids are just less messy. Handmade bars of soap and such are very charming, but they don't always work in practice at my house.

One recommendation I would give on your shop is to shorten your announcement. Put some of the info into your profile and/or policies, or put it in your blog and post the blog link...but when there's a huge long shop announcement then it's slower to scroll down to the products. Ideally shoppers like to be able to see the first row of products (or at least the tops of the pictures) without scrolling down. I know it's REALLY hard to get the announcement that short but it does really help! Also, being able to see some items in the same screenshot as the menu of shop sections is helpful imo.
