  6. My mom deserves this gift set! She works hard to make us feel loved. When I left home for college she would send me the most wonderful goodies packages to ease my homesickness. (Is that a word?!) She always cuts articles out of magazines that she thinks I should read and leaves them on my pillow. She came for a whole week when I gave birth to my son and bought groceries, cleaned, made us food, and PACKED our freezer full of meals. She gives me socks every Christmas (She's such a mom!) Please choose her for this gift basket...she deserves it!

  8. I would love for my mom to win this. She is the most dedicated, selfless, hard-working, loving and understanding person I have ever met. she is 66 years old and she works about 50 hours a week or more and tries to do the cooking and cleaning on top of that. My dad was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which has been one of her biggest struggles yet along with losing her son in a tragic car accident 13 years ago. My dad is undergoing heavy chemotherapy treatment and my mother tries to be with him during every treatment as much as possible that is very emotionally and physically draining. she tries to keep a smile on her face and is very positive. She has to work so many hours to help pay the bills since my dad has to miss alot of work now because of treatments and because of the side effects of the chemo which makes him super tired. She has been a rock for all of us during this hard time and any extra penny she has she gives it to her kids. I tell her to spend it on herself or to go relax and get a pedicure but she won't. She is so loving and kind and welcoming to everyone and if anyone deserves this she does. She has been through so much and I have no money to get her a gift this year so this would be perfect. Thanks Amy. amsbolda@hotmail.com

  9. I would like to enter my mother Dianne.

She has been always been a role model and an inspiration for my sister and me. She's intelligent, responsible, caring and has managed to balance working full time with raising two difficult children. We didn't make it easy for her, and now that I'm growing up (and realizing that parents are people, too!), I'm amazed at how much she took in stride and how much she provided for us.

I know she's the primary reason that I have such strong convictions in how I live my life. I was lucky enough to grow up comfortably due to her hard work, and while my friends thought they were entitled to things, she taught me that I was obligated to use what I had to improve the world around me. I'm extremely proud of who I am and my affect on my surroundings, and I'm confident that it's because of the values I learned from her.

I'm currently serving as an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer, so gift giving is a bit of a struggle. My sister was in AmeriCorps last year, so she's in the same boat. It would be such a blessing if we could give Mom something more than a card this year.

  10. my mother works in pediatrics, and wanted to have a lot of kids. after she had me (her second child), she had health probs that prevented her from having any more.

she's wanted so badly to become a grandmother, but i'm not interested in having kids, and my sister has gotten a bit old to have a baby--but she just did. she's 39 years old, and just had a beautiful baby late last night. we're all stunned and overcome with the joy of a little baby girl in our family.

so mother's day this year will be the most meaningful one yet. my sister is a brand new mom, and the baby is healthy and beautiful.

  11. This lovely treat would go to my mom. My parents have recently moved and downsized houses, and I know it was a hard and stressful process. And our dog had to be put to sleep a couple months ago..
But anyways, my mom has been really great and deserves something great!

  12. I would like to nominate my mom, Rose, for the Mothers Day giveaway.

My mom is the best mom, she is always supportive of her children and our families. Right now she is in the process of moving out of a house she has lived in for 43 years to downsize. That is 43 years of memories, boxes and "stuff" that she is going through. Even though the new house is not very far away from the old house, it is still time consuming and exhausting process. She deserves this giveaway so that once she is all moved into the new house, she can pamper herself. She really is the best mom!

  13. I would love to enter my daughter Kathy Kennedy for this wonderful prize because she is a wonderful mother who goes beyond the call of duty with her children. Her husband travels a lot and she is left with all the responsibilities of taking care of the house and kids. My 2 year old grandson has many medical problems from being born premature and has to take him to the doctors weekly and physical therapy, heart doctors, speech therapists. With her determination and never giving up my grandson is doing so great and she does get all the credit. I could go on and on. I just love her so much! Thank you!

  14. This basket of goodies is right up my daughters alley. My daughter is 27 years old and she is not a mother. I would love to win this for her as an encouragement that her and her hubby will become parents eventually. My daughter was pregnant for their first baby, but she lost the baby in December. It was hard because at thanksgiving we were all talking about how exciting next Christmas would be with a baby in the family. This Mother's Day will be hard for her and it would be great to present her with this awesome gift for Mother's Day.

  15. I would like to enter my Aunt Sandy. When I was 12 my parents got a divorce and she took me in, loved me unconditionally, and made me the person I am today. She's always been there for me and I know she always will, whether it's to celebrate good news or give a shoulder to cry on, she never complains. She's kind, caring, compassionate, always puts others before herself, and is an amazing person. I am thankful every day to have her as my "mom".

  16. Ok - I don't know if this will count so much as a "Mom" story...but this is quite simply THE funniest thing my daughter has ever said, hands down.
I had just had our second daughter and was nursing her on the couch. Our (then) 3-year-old had to go potty and Dad was in there already. She busted the door open and sat right down (face-to-face with Dad) on the little potty. When she was finished she said, "Ok Dad. I'm done." My hubby called into the livingroom and asked me to come help Syndel. When I told him I was nursing Ceryse, he paused. While we're going back and forth about why my hubby can't stand up because...."you know, it'll be right in her face." Syndel spoke up in the most casual tone and said, "Dad. I KNOW you have a danglie." Oh, I lost it....I was laughing SO hard...but it gets better. She then added, "And I know you pick at it and put it in your shoe."

I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my life. Honestly.

    Good stuff.

  17. I would liked to enter for my Mom-
A few years ago my Mom suffered a stroke leaving her with the mental capacity of about a 4 year old. She has had to relearn EVERYTHING! She had to relearn how to talk, use a fork, feed herself, read, write, shower ect. I am simply amazed at the courage and strength of this woman. There are times when she gets really frustrated with things but she is a fighter and she NEVER gives up. She has always been a musical person and before her stroke could play many instruments and sing like an angel. After her stroke this was all gone. Of recent she has decided to teach herself how to play the piano again. She practices everyday for hours and hours. Two Sundays ago I was able to take her to Church where she played the piano for all of the congregation to here. It brought tears to my eyes. My AMAZING Mom is my HERO. It is still hard to understand her words but I do understand her love.

  18. My older sister isnt a mother herself. But she has been a surrogate mother to me ever since our mom passed away. From helping me through the loss our mom, to being there for me at my overly stressful wedding, to being in the delivery room when I had my son, she is everything my mom would have wanted her to be for her family. She deserves some recognition for not just being a great big sister, but for being a wonderful mothering figure in my life. Whether I win this or not I am glad to have been reminded by this contest that I need to do something special for her this year!

  19. I would like to enter my daughter, Sofia. She is the mother of two stepchildren. She has a tiny, tiny house but she manages to make it a home. Her Dad and I got divorced when she was 14. She got a stepfather whom she loved and who loved her. And then he was taken away, cancer. Her brother died of a drug overdose at 30. I had breast cancer a year ago, and now I am going through a divorce. She has always been there for me. She is strong and supportive and a great Mother for her husband's kids.

  20. My mom was always very reserved and quiet. I remember asking her one time when we were driving and I was about 8 or 9 mom do you know how fast this car can go? She smiled and said I don't know let's see and hit the gas really hard. She only did it for about 5 seconds but it made us both LAUGH!

  21. My mom is awesome because she first of all is always there for all 6 of kids, the inlaws, and the grandkids. Oops and Great grandbaby. She has always been there, her and my father divorced and mom worked hard as a waitress to keep us kids fed, she raised the last 4 kids pretty much by herself and has done a terrific job. She is now battling Cancer. She has a rare form and has been in this battle since 2005. She is a strong woman.. She says she had to be with us 6 Rowdy kids. Possibly my brothers and sisters not me I was a perfect child.. hahaha..She also has a fantastic sense of humor which is wonderful.
The 6 of us were lucky to call her mom, she has instilled great values in us kids, great work ethics, and a sense of humor. Fun HOuse...
    Thanks for the chance.
I love the name of your Boutique.. The Muddy Moose. Terrific.

  22. I would like to enter my mom. I love it when she laughs hysterically and the tears run down her cheeks. She's very good at laughing -- even at herself! When life is tough she can turn things around for a while by her laughter since it's so infectious. Thanks for the giveaway.

  23. I would like to enter my Mom as she is so deserving of this and more! We lost my father 2 years ago and right after that we found out she had lung cancer and she was still working until last week! I applaud her for her strength as to look at her you would never believe that she is 78 years old!

  24. I would like to nominate my mother-in-law. She has stood in for my mother who lives out of state and spends a lot of time with me. We talk on the phone a lot too!

  25. I am entering for myself. I am not greedy! I wish I could enter for my mother but she has left this earth. Mom was my best friend. She loved when I would try to win something online. She encouraged me to have fun. If she was still here, I would be entering for her but I know she would tell me to keep it. She would have said, "You need to feel special". I miss her so much.

  26. My sister Melanie has two boys and ran a day care for years while going to school at night time.

All of that came crashing down when she was diagnosed with MS. She had to close down her day care, quit school and she is currently in a wheelchair and has to give herself shots every day. She's also starting to lose vision in her eye and had to wear a "pirate patch" for awhile. (She still keeps her sense of humor, though, and got one with flowers on it.)

All through this, she takes care of Mom who is demanding of her as well as her husband who does what he can to take care of her.

Melanie also had some childhood traumas that I'd really rather not get in to but the girl just can't seem to catch a break.

I'd really like her to be able to lock herself in the bathroom, relax with all these goodies and just feel good even if for a little while.

She is sweet, giving and caring and right now she needs to know that it's ok for her to think of herself for a little while and just find some zen. She's only 34 and she's been through the wringer.

  27. My mom's whole life as a mother is a memorable story. She has seven children who continually ask her questions everyday. She makes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for them every day. Her youngest child, my brother, just turned two and needs to be around her almost all the time. Her oldest is eighteen and is bringing with that age all the troubles with finding a college as well as the many other difficulties that arise.
My mom has had to put up with and take care of so much as a mom. My sister fell out of a window when she was just a toddler. Although she survived, it must have given my mom one gigantic shock. I have electrocuted myself twice (that gave both my mother and I a shock). She has to deal with the constant misbehavior of her younger children: drawing on the wall, drawing on themselves, fighting with each other, yelling, getting dirty. However, she not only has to take care of her own kids, but she teaches at a school for a lot of the day and has to deal with trouble making kids there as well. To add even more to her plate, she has started helping with our school drama club and has to deal with all the frustration of being assistant director of a large group of loud carefree children.
Somewhere among taking care of seven children, raising a baby, preparing a child for college, dealing with shocks of her life, teaching at a school, and being assistant director of the drama club play, my mom needs to take care of herself. One of the best ways to do that would be to have a little bit of relaxation time. This giveaway would definitely help my mom.

My mom's name is Sheila Thoburn. Her blog can be found at http://aliceandthemockturtle.blogspot.com/.
